What is Lens Implant?
Lens Implants are used to correct vision either with or without removal of the eye's natural lens. Most of the time, the natural lens is removed due to a cataract, but some people with high corrections choose lens removal for vision correction as well. There are several types of lenses for correcting vision after the natural lens is removed.
Crystalens IOL
Crystalens
The Crystalens is the only accommodating intraocular lens available. It works by having flexible hinges off the optical part of the lens to allow the optics to move back and forth with eye muscle movement. This new technology is designed to mimic the eye’s natural ability to focus on distant, middle, and near objects. Used in conjunction with standard cataract extraction methods, the crystalens was designed to provide a continuous range of vision, from distance to intermediate to reading vision without total dependence on glasses or contact lenses.
ReZoom IOL
ReZoom
The ReZoom lens is a multifocal lens implant. It bends the light differently over different parts of the lens optics and allows for a better range of distance, intermediate, and near vision. This means greater independence from glasses than monofocal IOLs.
Anyone who has a normal eye exam and is dependent on reading glasses or bifocals may be a candidate. Although ReZoom lenses are initially approved for cataract patients with or without Presbyopia, it is not necessary to need cataract surgery to qualify for the ReZoom lens.
ReStor Lens Implant
ReStor
Like the ReZoom lens implant, the ReStor multifocal lens implant can allow you to live a more active and free from glasses lifestyle than traditional lenses. By focusing images both far and near, the ReStor lens implant can allow you to drive and read without the need for glasses. Clinical studies found that over 90% of those patients who had the ReStor lens implant in both eyes were able to function without glasses at all distances.
With the new ReStor Aspheric Lens Implant, multifocal vision has gotten even better. By upgrading the lens with a more advanced aspheric surface, sharpness and clarity have been significantly improved. If having clear vision for driving, reading, and all distances in between without the need for glasses sounds good to you, ask whether the ReStor Lens Implant is an option for you.
Visian and Verisyse Lens Implants for Myopia
Visian
Verisyse
Both the Visian ICL and the Verisyse Intraocular lenses are proven to correct moderate to severe nearsightness. The procedure involves placing the Lens Implant inside your eye to provide high-quality, high-definition vision without the need for glasses or contacts in most situations. Although these lenses are intended to be permanent, the micro lens can be removed if desired.
Visian ICL and the Verisyse lens implantation is an outpatient treatment that usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes. One eye is treated at a time.
